What is it about New York City that can make any girl fall madly in love? Once the location of my nightly dreams, now a figment of my reality. I have fallen head over heals in love with a city I once adored from afar. Recently, I took a trip to the Big Apple for the first time, and what I experienced was something I never imagined before. Raised on Breakfast at Tiffany’s and Gossip Girl, the city always seemed luxurious in a way almost indescribably so, but I never imagined the big city to to feel so small.
The big island of Manhattan, while home to millions of dreamers, actually felt quite small to me. Manhattan can be quite enchanting, but I found myself drawn to Brooklyn. After one morning strolling the Brooklyn Bridge, my friend and I explored the streets of Dumbo before settling down for brunch at a local coffee shop. The food was trendy and the people were incredibly friendly. I envisioned myself walking along the East River, with my dog in tow (there was so many people with dogs in Brooklyn), enjoying the view of Manhattan just a bridge away.
I don’t believe I will find myself years down the road settling in this great city, but I am excited to come back and discover what else the city has to offer. New York City has left quite an impression on me that I can’t seem to shake. It’s been almost a month since I left and I still can’t get it out of my head.
