Happy Labor Day! In honor of hard-working Americans everywhere, I’ve decided to share my advice on how to study smarter for a fabulous semester. Most students are finally back in school, so that means exams and more exams. I actually love school, especially now that I’m studying something I’m extremely passionate about; however, I don’t love exams. I mean… who does? Today, I want to share with you a few of my favorite study tips for achieving success on your next exam.
One of my favorite study tools is Quizlet, because you can play games, use flashcards, and so much more. I find just reviewing information over and over again makes it stick in my brain better. I like having it on my phone too, so I can review on the go as I’m walking to class or eating breakfast.
WRITE IT OUT
I know this exercise helps for many people, especially when you are covering a large topic. Having all the information written out on printer paper helps to implant the knowledge into your brain. This is also a great way for you to look at all the information at one time, when studying for a cumulative exam.
LISTEN TO INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
I love listening to music when studying, but if I listen to songs with lyrics I end up getting distracted by singing along. Therefore, I have a whole playlist dedicated to my favorite instrumental music, which basically makes me feel like I’m in a dream world (Listen here).
FIND YOUR STUDY SPACE
When I really want to focus, I can’t study in my apartment. I love getting out, grabbing coffee at a local coffee shop, then finding a quiet place on campus to focus. My favorite place to go lately is the new architecture building on campus or the fashion school building. Find what works best for you and STUDY AWAY!
STUDY IN A GROUP
Sometimes this can be a disaster, but if you find a group of hardworking individuals then you can succeed together. There is strength in number, so finding people who can help you study will be very beneficial when studying for an exam.
