I’m back for another week of Simply Speaking! I apologize for not having an interview for last week, but my life here at Kent is getting busier and busier by the minute, and I hope you understand. Anyways, today I am interviewing a fellow Kent State student, Tracie from the fashion blog Tracie Marie Please. I love interviewing fashion students and bloggers who go to my school, because it is a chance for me to share their amazing blogs with my readers but also to hear from people in my own community. That is why I highly recommend you check out Tracie’s blog, and I hope you enjoy this interview!
How would you describe your style?
I would describe my style as classic, effortless, a dash of French inspiration and a little bit of an edge. My goal every day is to look effortlessly put together.
You are the PR Girl for FSO (a fashion club at Kent State), what does your job entail?
I do a lot of behind the scenes stuff for FSO. I run all of FSO’s social media (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, and Blog), make flyers, posters, programs, tickets, as well as oversee my own PR Team! This is my second year as FSO PR Girl, and it’s a lot of work, but I enjoy doing it and working with the organization.
What is your dream job/career?
I think my dream job would be able to take my blog full time and live in New York City. I love blogging, and I could really see myself expanding the Tracie Marie Please brand.
What is your favorite trend of this Fall season?
Velvet, velvet, velvet! I would love to have the guts to wear an entire velvet suit, I just love the luxe look of the fabric. I’m definitely planning on buying burgundy velvet boots this season.
What is your go-to outfit?
My go-to outfit is skinny jeans, a comfy graphic tee, black pointed toe boots, and a black choker. It never fails!
Why did you create your blog Tracie Marie Please? What was the inspiration behind the name?
I created my blog because I was originally a huge blog reader myself, but all the bloggers I followed never actually wore outfits that they would wear in real life! They looked like they were dressed for NYFW every day! My goal, since I started Tracie Marie Please, has always been to accurately depict and record my own personal style. I want to be relatable and real with my readers.
The idea behind the name Tracie Marie Please, came from my own name. My middle name is Marie and I just loved the way the whole blog name sounded. I think of it as a classy blog name that really fits my personality.
What is one lesson you learned while interning in New York City?
I think the biggest lesson I learned while interning in NYC was to be flexible. Even if your internship “duties” don’t explicitly include picking up flowers for an event or getting coffee; do it anyways. Your supervisors will appreciate your willingness to be helpful and flexible!
